  • Heirloom Yemen Mocha Matari

A rare coffee named for the port that spread arabica coffee to the world.

First written of in the 15th century, grown on small holder farms at high elevations of 1,950 meters where there’s little rainfall, the coffee adapted to the harsh conditions over the centuries, increasing nutrients and sugars pushed into the cherries.

The result is a complexity of nuances in the cup. Naturally sun-dried due to the climate, it’s pleasing and unique. Its delicateness is enhanced by balanced acidity and round, juicy body. Very smooth with hearty undertones: mildly smoky, nutty, spicy and a hint of tartness. The finish is clean and dry, making for an all-around crowd-pleasing, beautiful, sophisticated coffee.

This is Craft Coffee at its best. We imported and roasted Michigan’s first specialty coffee bean in 1981. Since then, we’ve maintained our passion and commitment to import, roast and sell only the highest quality, freshest arabica coffees to our valued customers, at affordable prices.

We still roast daily in small batches, our coffees going from our small-batch roasters to you within 72 hours. Each coffee is roasted to the precise temperature that will release its special characteristics. We don’t know many roasters who do all this. Fortunately, all you need is one.
