Scientists put the first day of fall in late September, but autumn’strue  arrival often varies for the individual. Maybe the first day of fall is when you can take in a deep breath of cool air and pull on a warm sweater; or perhaps it’s when orange leaves begin to coat the sidewalk. Whenever the “first day of fall” may be for you, here are a few drinks to make in honor of the holiday:

Maple Sage Latte  The sharp potency of the cuts through the maple, making this an uncommon yet complementary combination. For the unconventional and refined: this is the drink for you.

  • 1 c. of hot water
  • ½ c. white sugar
  • 1 c. maple syrup
  • ¼ c. sage
  • 1 double shot of Schuil Coffee Co. espresso
  • ¾ c. steamed milk

Combine hot water, sugar, maple syrup, and sage and steep for 15 minutes to make the syrup. Discard sage leaves and pour the mixture into a container. Add about 2 tbsp of syrup to a mug. Add espresso and steamed milk and drink!

Iced Pumpkin Spiced Latte  This drink is perfect for those hotter fall days. We like to believe it’s never too early for a good old fashioned PSL. Here’s what you need to make it:

  • ¼ c. chilled Schuil Coffee Co. Pumpkin Spiced espresso
  • 1 tbsp pumpkin puree
  • 2-3 tbsp half-and-half
  • ½ tsp pumpkin spice
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Blend all ingredients together until the mixture becomes frothy. Pour over a glass of ice and top with whipped cream and more pumpkin spice for garnish.

Salted Nutella  No explanation needed… this one is absolutely decadent.

  • ¾ c. milk
  • 1 tbsp. Nutella
  • ½ tsp. Vanilla syrup
  • 2 oz. Schuil Coffee Co. espresso

Heat milk, Nutella, and syrup in a microwave for 1 ½ minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from microwave and add espresso. Sprinkle with cocoa powder and serve!

Honey Lavender Latte  Although the popularity of this latte pales in comparison to the coveted PSL, Honey Lavender Lattes have been making a splash in the coffee industry. Here’s how to make your own.

  • 2 tsp fresh lavender
  • ½ c. sugar
  • ½ c. water
  • ½ c. honey
  • Schuil Coffee co. Colombian coffee
  • ⅓ c. milk

Prepare lavender syrup by combining lavender, sugar, honey, and water over low heat. Allow the mixture to simmer until it thickens. While the mixture cools, combine coffee and milk. Stir in syrup and enjoy!
