Most significant in terms of health benefits is coffee’s ability to lower the risk of different prevalent diseases. Research has shown that regular consumption of coffee can reduce the risk of diabetes, neurological diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, forms of liver disease, and liver and colorectal cancers. Coffee also contains valuable nutrients like riboflavin, niacin, magnesium, and potassium, as well as antioxidants.
Other benefits that don’t directly influence health include increased alertness, energy, and ability to concentrate. For some drinkers, though, it’s easy to overshoot the mark. Coffee can also cause increases in anxiety, restlessness, insomnia, and increased heart rate.
Though we’ll take all the reasons we can get to drink more coffee, it’s important to do more research on your own or consult with a medical professional if you’re concerned about your levels of coffee consumption.
