Cold brew coffee is a warm weather essential, that we couldn’t imagine going through a summer without. In addition to drinking it straight, we love that it can help bring the full cafe experience to your home without the need for pricey coffee equipment. When brewed and kept as a concentrate, cold brew mimics the general flavor and concentration of a shot of espresso. This means you can make any variety of your favorite iced cafe drinks at home if you stock up on a few other simple ingredients. Below are some of our tips for bringing the summer cafe experience home.
Make a Cold Brew Latte
One of the more simple ways to start out is by making an iced latte style drink by diluting your cold brew concentrate with milk instead of water. Try using equal parts of milk and the cold brew concentrate, and adjust from there to your liking.

Add syrup!
Here’s where things start getting fun! To truly bring the cafe experience to your home, try adding a flavored syrup to your cold brew latte. You can purchase a wide variety of flavored syrups online or easily make your own. To make your own, start with a basic simple syrup recipe of bringing equal parts sugar and water to a boil, and then throw in any additional flavors you’d like. Vanilla, peppermint, and almond extracts are all easy places to start. You could also get more experimental and add dried herbs or spices like lavender, cardamom, or cinnamon. A quick internet search will help you determine how much of any flavor addition to simmer with your syrup.
Throw it in the blender
Your wallet will thank you more than anyone for skipping the trip to the cafe and blending up a few ingredients at home instead. Instead of dropping $7 on a frappuccino, you can just as easily combine cold brew concentrate, milk, ice, and a flavored syrup and blend away. We recommend starting with the following recipe:
- ½ cup cold brew concentrate
- ½ cup milk
- 30 grams flavored syrup (around 2 - 3 tablespoons)
- ½ cup ice
Happy brewing!
